About this "Allegiance" then

So following on from Damarai's foreword, where does this whole allegiance thing come in?

Well in finest Blizzard tradition, that was a little of "push button, get ret'con' "

A few months ago I began writing short RP stories imagining how the actions of our guild members in game would play out from the characters point of view, (these will be posted up later and may be a long term feature, depending on reception). As part of this I needed to tie together the reason for the name, which sounded far to much like The Alliance in the first place, and the reason that out of game each member of the guild had pretty much been brought in by another they knew outside of Warcraft (... yes, there is an outside, it's big and scary and damn expensive, I don't recommend it...), thus was the allegiance each character swears, the life debt that binds them to every other unrelated member of the guild, born.

I might at some point post a chart of which characters owe who the life debt, or allegiance they swore, but that is quite possibly amazingly dull to an outsider, so we'll see... Till then we return you to your regularly scheduled program of WoW commentary, humour, RP and general rambelings, oh and

...Swear Allegiance!

So, would you swear Allegiance?

Come to think about it, did I?

It's certainly a good question when I think about it, it all comes down to a new Dwarf Warrior alt and a wonder around Stormwind. Rewind a couple of years and many alts (I'm addicted, what can I say...) and my girlfriend and I are rolling new Dwarves with a friend in order to get him into the game a little better. Eighteen rapid levels later and my Warrior is taking a swift tour of Stormwind only to have a random guild invite pop up.
I'll note that this was only my second character on this server (my other being ensconced in a nice social guild setting); so I went ahead and accepted and opened up the guild page to see who was there. Oddly there were only a four people in the whole guild which struck me as odd, but not as much as what happened next.

No sooner had I read the list of names (all were offline save myself and the Guild Master) did mine suddenly jump to the top of the list, followed closely by a swift "Enjoy" in guild chat as the leader /gquit.
To say I was stunned was an understatement, several whispers to the now ex-leader revealed he wanted to leave and that the others would be able to teach me about the game... Jump back to the cheery present, many things have changed for us... but many things the same, we're still a close knit group just playing, hanging out and having fun. Some go and return, others have been lost forever. Regardless though, we'll carry on as we level the guild and start the next round of alts for our personal armies. As our story progresses into tales of our characters, machinema and hopefully this blog, I have to ask...

...will you swear Allegiance?
